In 1938 Hans Knoll, a German industrialist emigrated to New York and opened a small workshop to create modern furniture. In 1943 he married Florence Schust, architect and designer, together they expanded the company.
Knoll and his wife Florence were guided by intuition and had the extraordinary ability to conquer the international scene with products of exclusive design and high quality materials that interpret the evolution of lifestyles; it is no coincidence that the Knoll company accompanied the birth of the Bauhaus movement. The couple called on some of Florence’s classmates to design for the company, such as Eero Saarinen and Harry Bertoia; a sculptor and designer of Italian origins. 
In more recent years Knoll has collaborated with some of the best designers such as Frank O. Ghery, Piero Lissoni, Barber Osgerby and Antonio Citterio.
Knoll is now a leading company in the design of residential and office furniture and an essential brand for those who love modern design evident in its collections of armchairs, sofas, chairs and tables.
